South Pasadena Delivers (SPD)
, is a subsidiary of Aztlan Events (Aztlan Athletics, LLC). We have been a leading community-based special events management and logistic company for over 30 years.
SPD offers South Pasadena businesses a customized delivery service solution that is sustainable and community-based. Our core purpose is to facilitate the delivery of food, products, and services that originate from South Pasadena business partners.
Zero-Based Flat Fee Model:
Starting at a flat rate of $10 delivery charge per address (under 20 lbs), SPD has the lowest fees in the industry. For a larger number of deliveries, SPD can establish a percentage of gross receipts delivery program, which does not exceed 9%.
Specilized Delivery Services:
SPD also provides customized transport including furniture, landscaping, construction supplies, which includes set-up at clients' requests (additional hourly rate will apply). The price for these services varies based on products and set-up needed. For an estimate, businesses can request a review either via telephone conference or by visiting our showroom on Fair Oaks.
We know the community:
We were established in 1976. Our umbrella company is a mission-driven organization that has operated in South Pasadena since 1991. The company President & CEO continues to support the community and is currently the director of the South Pasadena High School Booster Club Tiger Run event, which takes place yearly in December (SpTigerRun.com). We have extensive experience in logistics and working with South Pasadena and neighboring cities. We look forward to helping businesses in South Pasadena with their delivery solutions.
In consultation with the local chamber of commerce, city officials, and existing small business owners, there has been a growing trend of price gouging in the delivery service industry. Up-to 30% of the gross receipts from delivery go towards fees (driver percentage share and third party service income combined). This is a huge red flag for small business owners who already have narrow profit margins to begin with.
SPD is worried about the sustainability of local businesses as they represent the foundation of a healthy community and much-needed tax revenue.
SPD provides its unique delivery business model to local South Pasadena businesses only at this time. Although the delivery and other services, may involve surrounding communities, the model will focus on business transactions originating from an established South Pasadena entity. We hope to expand capacity to other cities in the near future.

South Pasadena Delivers
has its operations in the main city corridor, where businesses can meet with our specialized route coordinators to develop a customized delivery service program. Businesses with an average of 15-20 deliveries per day have the option to adapt their service needs based on their respective trends. SPD can assign a dedicated stop at your business within a 5-10 minute rotation. SPD uses primarily electric cars on Fair Oaks and Mission Street, which minimizes carbon footprint while immediately responding to requests by participating businesses.
Social Distancing Crowd Control Services:
As businesses adapt to satisfy local recommended guidelines around appropriate social distancing, SPD provides the infrastructure needed to expand business seating areas outside, including installation of proper fencing, canopies, tables and chairs that accommodate additional clients or for retailers interested in utilizing the outdoor or parking lot areas to satisfy the new guidelines, accommodating more visitors. Jose Luis Zavala, M.A., President & CEO, has lived in South Pasadena since 1991. He continues to direct and manage over 14 fundraising events in the region including, the well established Tiger Run in South Pasadena. He was on the commission of parks and recreation for the city for 8 years. Mr. Zavala is a board member of Los Angeles River State Park Partners. Mr. Zavala is a consultant and regional event director for Aztlan Athletics and has over 30 years of experience in the project management service industry.
Edgar Pelayo, VP of development, currently heads the foundation side of the company (Aztlan Athletics Foundation). Edgar has over 25 years of experience in the industry.
SPD, and its umbrella company, operate from their corporate office showroom in South Pasadena. Our drivers will be staged from this location and cover the designated route in the main business corridor of South Pasadena (Fair Oaks & Mission, during the time of 8A- 11P.)
